The following letter was sent to Harford County business leaders from Frank Mezzonotte, coordinator of magnet programs for Harford County Public Schools. A copy was provided to The Dagger for publication:
Dear Business Leader and Partner in Education:
In order to meet the needs of eleventh grade students who are contemplating post-secondary options, Harford County Public Schools will host Futures11, a series of informative sessions touching on topics relevant to high school juniors.
Futures11 is scheduled for March 24, 2011, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:10 p.m. The day begins with a keynote address in the Amoss Center at Harford Technical High School, followed by a series of workshops and networking sessions at Harford Community College.
In order for Futures11 to be successful, we need your support in the following areas:
· Content specialists to act as speakers/presenters for the workshops listed below
· Sponsorship to offset cost of:
. Lunch for students
. Conference “take-aways” for students
· Staffing for exhibits in an expo-style set up
Approximately 450 high school juniors will take part, coming from the following programs:
· Harford Technical High School (19 Career & Technology Education programs)
· Science and Mathematics Academy at Aberdeen High School
· Biomedical Sciences Program at Bel Air High School
· Global Studies and International Baccalaureate Program at Edgewood High School
· Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Program at Joppatowne High School
· Academy of Finance Program at Edgewood High School
Topics of the workshops will include:
· Networking
· Security Clearances
· College Admissions
· Financing College
· Internships & Apprenticeships
· Hot Jobs
· Facebook and Other Social Media
· Preparing for Job Interviews & Job Fairs
· Personality Inventory
The cost of sponsoring one student for this event is $25.00. You may choose to sponsor one student or consider the following sponsorship levels:
· 1 – 10 students………………………………………….. Freshman level
· 11 – 20 students……………………………………….. Sophomore Level
· 21 – 30 students……………………………………….. Junior Level
· 31 – 40 students……………………………………….. Senior Level
· 41 or more students………………………………….. Graduate level
Your sponsorship will be recognized in the event program and all PR materials and can also be considered a tax deductible donation.
