The Town of Bel Air, in order to comply with federal law, must adopt an identity theft prevention program which will “use red flags to detect, prevent and mitigate identity theft.” A resolution creating and adopting this online identity management program will be discussed during the Bel Air Board of Town Commissioner’s meeting beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Town Hall.
After the Federal Trade Commission adopted new Identity Theft Rules, all creditors (including municipalities like the Town of Bel Air) are required to create and have identity theft detection, prevention and mitigation plans in place.

Also Tuesday night, the Bel Air Town Commissioners are expected to make an appointment to the Board of Appeals and recognize a student from Bel Air High School.
