The American Hero always comes through
To capture our hearts with a spirit so true
Some proudly are soldiers who march in harm’s way
Insuring our freedom, courageous they stay
While others come forth as civilians so brave
Determined in purpose, so steadfast to save
We should always keep clear a place in our heart
For each has a value beyond precious art
Their duty to country will not be surpassed
Please honor their courage, for some it’s their last
We live in a world which can be hard to bear
Thank God for these people, how greatly they care
Do ponder new heroes and what they will face
And pray for their safety no matter their place
Our heritage brings out the best, we all know
Our great book of heroes is destined to grow

AMTRAK EXHIBIT
JUNE 4 – 5 2011 is the 40th Anniversary of Amtrak. Amtrak recently had a display train in Baltimore open to the public with several cars of exhibits. The same train will be in Perryville in Cecil County for a public display on June 4th and 5th. There is no charge to see the exhibits. The address for the exhibit is 650 Broad Street The display consist of a 1993 P40 Locomotive , a F40PH locomotive providing head end power, from 1988, a sleeper (not open/probably for the crew), three (3) baggage cars containing the numerous displays and a gift shop car. Lots of AMTRAK souvenirs available and they have some nice Walthers HO equipment for sale but it was pricey.

June 4 FLAG DAY IN BEL AIR The Annual Flag Day celebration will take place Saturday Morning June 4th at 8 AM at the Community Band shell. Located in Shamrock Park behind city hall, there will be a massing of the colors & raising of the community flag. Honor Guards and Music by the Bel Air High School Chorus. Veterans are urged to wear whatever part of your uniform that fits. (The hat for most of us) The Bel Air High School Band will also perform. Bring the kids for this home town tradition of patriotism.

As a former Harford Countian living just over the line in PA, I enjoy reading about the County and all the events. It seems that there is a great deal of patriotism in the county, and maybe the rest of the state should look to Harford County to lead them to a more sensible view of the USA as Maryland is now labeled the #1 liberal state in the country.
We, along with hundreds of Marylanders, left because of the onerous taxes and high cost of living. We actually have the best of both worlds as we live in an area that is more conservative and less developed but are close enough to visit Harford County and see our old friends and enjoy the activities. We joke that we believe many Republicans moved to York County to escape Maryland’s liberalism in addition to the high taxes. In fact, one of my neighbors told me he left Maryland because of Parris Glendenning, so regardless of what the politicians say, people do vote with their feet and will do whatever they can do to improve their lives.
Keep up the good work Harford County.
