From Harford Family House:
It was 11:59 on August 1st, the last day of the Liberty Baltimore Face book Challenge, and Harford Family House supporter were furiously voting to put their favorite organization in 3rd place to win the $30,000 prize. Harford Family House was nominated for the contest by local Liberty Mutual Agent Dana Temple. Dana is featured in the video, along with Harford Family House clients and staff that was posted on the website where voters were encouraged to “like” the community of their choice.
Dana worked hard as did the staff, volunteers and entire Harford County Community to overcome the fact that HFH was the only nonprofit agency in Harford County to participate and one of the smallest of the organizations included in the contest.
Boston-based Liberty Mutual launched the campaign in May to give its 40 local Baltimore auto and home insurance sales and customer service agents a way to extend their commitment to Baltimore beyond helping people protect their cars and homes by championing the causes that benefit the communities and neighborhoods in which they live and work.
The $30,000 prize will help Harford Family House to serve homeless families with children in their community. HFH has 23 housing units and works to move families from homelessness and hopelessness to independence and permanent stable housing.
Joyce Duffy, Executive Director of Harford Family House said “We were so encouraged by the outpouring of support from our community and beyond. It was very exciting to see that a small organization like Harford Family House could have a chance of winning this contest. We want to thank everyone who “liked” Harford Family House at the Liberty Baltimore Face book Competition page and secured the win and the $30,000 prize”
