New 700,000 SF Spec Distribution Center in Harford
Ryan Commercial LLC and Emory Properties LLC broke ground last week on a 700,000 sf speculative distribution center in Perryman to be known as the Mid-Atlantic Distribution Center. The site is adjacent to Bob’s Discount Furniture Distribution Center. With close proximity to the Baltimore-Washington I-95 corridor and Aberdeen Proving Ground, the site offers convenience to markets in the northeast, mid-Atlantic and south. The project is scheduled to be completed in January 2012.
Four Named to BBJ Enterprising Women
The Baltimore Business Journal released their 2011 Enterprising Women publication last week and included four Harford County women-owned businesses. The list of 50 of the largest woman-owned businesses in the Baltimore area was ranked by the 2010 company revenue. Harford County woman owned companies include: #4 Comer Construction, Inc., owned by Linda “Susie” Sue Comer; #8 Beacon Associates, Inc. owned by Carol Koffinke; #15 Stella May Contracting, Inc., owned by Stella M. Miller; and #46 Beacon Staffing Alternatives, owned by Sheryl Davis Kohl.

3/50 Project Networking Event
Harford Community College will be hosting a networking event – The 3/50 Project, Building Business From The Ground Up – featuring founder Cinda Baxter on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. The 3/50 Project started with a single blog post urging consumers to pick three local businesses and spend $50 a month to boost the local economy. Through social media, the project became a national success. Harford County Tourism featured the 3/50 Project in a Where’s Wini video that aired during the December 2010 Holiday season and showcased Downtown Bel Air businesses. Click to view video.
