We need a week-day drop off in the lower part of the county. Abingdon DPW (Rt. 7) use to be a drop off site, but they stopped accepting yard debris. Scarboro is too far to travel from the lower end.

Agree. Way too far. I’ve made the trip several times. If it were open later it wouldn’t be so bad, but usually it takes you all day to get the work done and by then the site is closed or will be closed by time you get there.
Everyone in my neighborhood has agreed though to just carefully dump small yard debris like trimmings and small amounts of leaves in the nearby common wooded area. So far that works for the most common things. I don’t like dumping things as a rule of thumb, but for small yard waste on your own property, I can live with it.
I can live with making the long drive a couple times a year for projects.

I agree and that is what I do. I have property that I can have a compost pile. The county helped out when it opened a temp site off Trimble Road in Joppa after the hurricane/storm. It was much more convenient considering that fact that I made 5+ trips. Still, it would be nice to have temporary sites in the lower end of the county for spring clean up and perhaps sometime in the fall when the leaves drop.

I agree we need a week day open yard waste drop off in lower county. What does it take for them to figure this out.
also the announcement above is poorly written – where is the site that is open during the week. It soes not say just has some name that no one can relate to.
