From Maryland State Police:
This is Lt Chuck Moore from the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack with an important traffic alert.
As part of the I-95/MD 24 Improvement Project, the new MD 24 bridge over MD 924 (Emmorton Road) and Tollgate Road is scheduled to open to traffic this week, weather depending. Updated information will be displayed daily on electronic message signs and will notify motorists of the specific date/time of the opening and provide additional instructions.
Once the new bridge is open, MD 24 motorists traveling between I-95 and Bel Air will travel the bridge and bypass the signalized intersection at MD 924.
In addition, new traffic patterns will be implemented on the ramps from northbound and southbound I-95 to MD 24 (Exits 77A and 77B).
Overnight lane closures and traffic drags on MD 24, MD 924 and I-95 will also occur prior to the opening. Notification of closures will also be provided to motorist by electronic message signs. More specific details as to the exact opening date and anticipated closures are not possible because of weather influences.
For project information and a map of the new traffic patterns visit mdta.maryland.gov. For statewide travel information, visit MD511.org or call 511.
Thank you for your patience. This message is a cooperative effort between the Maryland Transportation Authority, the Harford County Emergency Operations Center and the Maryland State Police.
