Community Foundation of Harford County has awarded $2,000 in mini-grants to the following nonprofits:
The Center for the Performing and Visual Arts
$250 – For the purchase of a computer and software
Chesapeake Therapeutic Riding
$250 – For annual horse vaccines
Faith Communities & Civic Agencies United
$250 – For emergency motel-bed nights for individuals who are homeless and are unable to utilize the emergency shelter
Family and Children’s Services of Central Maryland – Harford County
$350 – For professional training for therapists working in the trauma-based treatment center
Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna
$500 – To purchase a compressor and impact
The Homecoming Project
$400 – For urinalysis kits for use by Homecoming Project clients
In addition, $2,000 in mini-grants were awarded from the following Community Foundation endowed funds:
Ann K. Gaumond Fund
Greater Excellence in Education Foundation
$500 – For support of the 2011 Finding Your Future Education Conference
Inner County Outreach
$250 – To support youth project to beautify local community areas in Aberdeen
LASOS
$250 – For parent literacy support services
Andrew and Jayne Klein Family Fund
Village at Lakeview Neighborhood Network Community Center
$500 – For purchase of kitchen equipment to support the VALNNCC meals program
Anne and John Gessner Fund
Harford Community Action Agency
$500 – To support the Road to Success project, providing reliable transportation for work
“Mini-grants are awarded by the foundation to help with specific projects and general operating costs at nonprofits throughout the county,” said Tamara W. Zavislan, executive director of the foundation. “Thanks to unrestricted gifts and donor funds, the foundation can have a positive impact on the lives of many Harford County residents.”
Community Foundation of Harford County is a nonprofit organization supported by the community through donations, enabling individuals, families and businesses to leave a legacy to benefit the causes about which they care. Charitable gifts are used to make Harford County stronger through grant-making to local nonprofits and through scholarships.
