From the Harford County League of Women Voters:
On Tuesday, November 1, 2011, the Harford County Commission for Women will present the second in a series of workshops designed to encourage and educate women who may be interested in running for public office. During the first workshop, held last May 24, a panel of elected or appointed women talked about the logistics, cost and time commitments of the election process. They also addressed balancing work with family. This Tuesday’s workshop focuses on how to get a foot in the door. What are the entry level opportunities that enable an individual to gain experience in Harford County prior to running for office?
Presenters include Beth Hendrix, Director of the Harford County Department of Community Services, Scott Gibson, Director of Human Resources and Wanda Mengel from the Harford County Board of Elections. The workshop will be held at the HEAT Center, 1201 Technology Drive in Aberdeen starting at 6:00pm until 8:30pm. Light refreshments will be served. RSVP to 410-638-3389. Cost is $5 per person.
The workshop theme is “Start small, think BIG”! Co-sponsors are the Harford County League of Women Voters and the American Association of University Women. A third workshop is planned for the spring of 2012.
