Sen. Jacobs Considers Run for Congress in 2nd District; “Congress Exists to Serve the People and They Are Failing Miserably”

From the office of Sen. Nancy Jacobs:

State Senator Nancy Jacobs has been a leader in passing key legislation to crack down on gang violence and protect our children from sexual predators with legislation such as Jessica’s Law. She has been a steadfast ally to the small business community and has consistently promoted job creation and investment legislation indicated by her 92% cumulative rating from Maryland Business for Responsive Government.

Now Jacobs is strongly considering a bid for the 2nd Congressional District in an effort to take the people’s fight to Washington. She has just formed an Exploratory Committee to prepare for a potential run for Congress.

Senator Jacobs is tired of the excuses coming from Washington and knows it’s time to challenge the Beltway status quo. “Congress exists to serve the people and they are failing miserably. It’s time to shake things up in D.C. I have always cared deeply about the community in which I live, work and have raised my family. I want to continue to work to improve the lives of people in our community with more job opportunities, a stronger economy and a brighter future for our families.”

Senator Ed Reilly, Minority Whip, reflected upon Nancy Jacobs’ tenure as Senate Minority Leader. “It has been an honor to be under her consistent, grounded leadership. She cares about families, about the community and she is committed to serve. If Nancy decides to run, I will support her any way I can.”

Jacobs fights hard for Maryland children and families. She is tough on criminals and gangs. She champions business growth and job creation and works to make Maryland more business friendly. That kind of advocacy is just what’s needed in Washington.

Jacobs will appear on WAMD 970 AM radio at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday during The Morning Show with Maynard Edwards and Cindy Mumby.

  1. Personally, I hope Senator Jacobs does run; her record of taking fights to Annapolis is exemplary, and I would like to see her doing the same thing in DC.

  3. I saw her on TV claiming that she was bipartisan and that she represented a Democratic district. I haven’t had such a good laugh since Newt Gingrich stated talking about “Family Values.”

  5. A waste of time and money. If not for Cecil County she would have been former state senator Jacobs. Ruppersburger will clean her clock – anyone who would contribute to her campaign would be throwing money away. Please send that money instead to a charity that would feed children or help families. At some point you have to get a grip on reality.

  6. @Bel Air Fed – Great idea to channel political contributions to charities instead of politicians. I’ll do it it if you can get the Unions, George Soros et al to do it. Just think if teachers unions gave all their lobbying and contributory money to needy children in our country?

  7. I don’t agree with dumping money into campaigns for some politicians self aggrandizement or their egoistic visions of changing the world.

Still, I don’t believe in over simplification either. Dumping money into charities without some governmental oversight (those same polticians) won’t work either. The probable result would be a larger percentage of the funds raised used for the salaries of the charities’ administrators rather than aiding those it was intended for.

  9. Nancy Jacobs has absolutely NO chance of beating Ruppersburger. She couldn’t even hold Harford County in the last election. Don’t waste time or money on her campaign – if she actually decides to run. Instead support someone (who will also lose but do so while running a credible campaign) that has a political future. Senator Jacobs should just finish out her term and retire.

  10. Vote for anyone but the incumbant, in every race at every level, every State in the whole country.

Enforce the term limits we already have.
