The Bel Air Town Commissioners will introduce a budget amendment Monday night to transfer funds from the town’s contingency account into various departments to fund a 2% cost of living adjustment for employees.
Also on the agenda Monday night are amendments to civilian and sworn officers’ pension plans. Civilian pension plan participants will now contribute 3.5%, rather than the previous 2% of their compenstation each year, and the town will contribute 8.7%. Sworn officers’ pension plan participants will now contribue 9.22%, rather than the previous 7%, and the town will contribute 9.4%.
Also Monday night, the commissioner’s will consider an ordinance amending the town’s Adequate Public Facilities Code to “focus the intent of the ordinance, clarify the calculations, explain the applicability of provisions, and outline the exemptions to the requirements” and an ordinance amending the town’s Adequate Public Facilities Development Regulations to “clarify the responsibilities of the developer, refine the scope of the study area and expand upon the applicability of the ordinance.”
The agenda also includes introduction of an ordinance establishing rules and regulations to govern the management of floodplain management within the Town of Bel Air. To meet the requirements of the National Flood Insurance Program and the Maryland Department of the Environment, each municipality must enact new floodplain regulations.
Also Monday night, the commissioners will award a bid for the contract to demolish the BB&T building, recognize employee Sgt. Richard Carter, recognize student Erin Bourn of Homestead-Wakefield Elementary School, and recognize Bel Air Christmas Parade organizer Michael Blum.
