From the Bel Air Independence Day Committee:
The Bel Air Independence Day Committee is looking for its second-ever “Miss Bel Air Independence Day” to serve as the official hostess for the all-day festivities in Bel Air on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, beginning with the flag-raising and pancake breakfast, and ending with the traditional parade and fireworks.
“Miss Bel Air Independence Day 2012” would also represent Harford County at the 2012 Miss Maryland Pageant in Hagerstown, Maryland, in late June.
“Miss Bel Air Independence Day 2012” will be chosen by interview from all eligible applicants. Applicants must be young women from Harford County at least 17 years of age, and who will not turn 25 before Dec. 30, 2012. Applicants may not ever have been married and must be without children. Applicants must be willing and able to carry off the responsibilities of “official hostess” for the events in Bel Air on July 4, and to compete for the Miss Maryland crown.
“We were very lucky to have had an absolutely perfect Miss Bel Air Independence Day the first time,” said Michael Blum, Vice President of the Committee. “Katie Meadowcroft from Bel Air represented us just wonderfully last year. Plus, she participated and helped with most of the events and led the parade, too, riding a Segway!”

O'MALLEY FAN says
I take offense to the Miss Bel Air. Why can’t we have a Mr Bel Air? Since we are getting same sex marriage rammed down our throat. I think it’s time Bel Air comes into the modern age! Now that we can have Mr and Mr and Mrs and Mrs. I for one would put my application in, but who would want an overweight male that is balding. LOL I look good waving from a fire truck…..no even better…handcuffed in the back of a police car. (not serious about this) I think it’s a good idea.
AN IDIOT says
Is this the same governor, who his wife called all people opposed to gay marriage IDIOTS? She retracted the statement about an hour later. I think it is a good idea to be all inclusive in today’s society….to a point. I thought O’Malley fan was attempting to be offensive, but then I had a good laugh. Life is too short for idiots to take everything serious.
an idiot of faith says
Where do I get my application? Since we are being told that we are idiots? LOL
