“We are also very happy to have the ladies from True Housewives back as our Official First Fridays Bar Staff,” reported Scott T. Walker, Executive Director of the Bel Air Downtown Alliance. “Heather Ziehl and the True Housewives have been amazing partners. We are so glad to have them back and are looking forward to working with them again in 2012,” he added.
In addition, the Bel Air Downtown Alliance has also partnered with MaGerk’s Pub & Grill, Looney’s Pub, Barks & Blooms, Relay for Life, Window World of Harford County, and the Harford County Marine Corps League to provide volunteers throughout the entire season of First Fridays. Mr. Walker noted, “It is simply amazing to be a part of such an incredible community like Downtown Bel Air. We have wonderful businesses and business owners that give so freely of their time to help us when volunteers are needed. It takes a small army of folks just pull off each First Fridays and our volunteers are the BEST!”
First Fridays After Dark is also back with the First Fridays’ festivities continuing at Darkhorse Saloon at the end of each First Fridays, 8-10 pm. Darkhorse Saloon, located at 119 S. Main Street, will be offering discounted drink and food specials to anyone with their First Fridays’ wristband. New this year, the Bel Air Downtown Alliance is also partnering with MaGerk’s Pub & Grill, as well as, Charm City Run and Safe Harbors Travel Group.
MaGerk’s Pub & Grill will act as the host of First Fridays if the event needs to be cancelled due to rain. The band that is scheduled to play will be playing at MaGerk’s Pub & Grill from 5 to 8pm and MaGerk’s will be offering food and drink specials. “Cancelling First Fridays due to rain is always a downer and it is pretty impractical to move the event to another venue and run it just like a regular First Fridays, but partnering with one of our local pubs and having them hostthe event is perfect,” reports Mr. Walker. “We are very thankful to have a great partner like Bridget Lloyd at MaGerk’s who offered to host First Fridays in the event of a rain cancellation,” he added.
Also new this year is what Mr. Walker described as “First Fridays Light”. In partnership with Charm City Run and Safe Harbors Travel Group, the Bel Air Downtown Alliance will be featuring an acoustic performance throughout the 2012 season of First Fridays from 4:30 to 6:30 pm in front of Charm City Run, located at 126 S. Main Street. “The biggest opportunity with First Fridays is getting the community to participate in the idea of ‘come early, stay late’. It’s great that everyone comes out for First Fridays to have a good time with friends and family then visit our local pubs after our event, but we also want them to explore Downtown Bel Air and enjoy everything our great local shops have to offer before the event. We think that ‘First Fridays Light’ is the perfect reason to ‘come early’. Plus, we will get to feature some very talented local musicians,” he explained.
So mark your calendars and get ready for another exciting season of First Fridays in Downtown Bel Air! Be Festive, Be Local, and Be A Part Of It!
