From Harford County Public Schools:
Roye-Williams Elementary second-grader Quentin Santiago will someday be able to add “artist” to his resume. After seeing Quentin’s artwork hanging in the hallway of the A.A. Roberty Building, John and Mary Lou Walker decided to purchase the painting!
The painting, which sold for $35, depicts a boat sailing in the ocean at sunset. Quentin was given an assignment to illustrate weather through the use of lines and color.
“The bright yellow-orange sun peeking over the horizon is very inviting and the purple color of the boat is surprising and creative!” said Quentin’s art teacher, Faith Ward.
Though Mr. and Mrs. Walker do not yet know where to hang the painting, they were attracted to the colors and happy mood of Quentin’s painting. This is the first student painting John and Mary Lou, a former German teacher at C. Milton Wright High School, have purchased.
Quentin planned to take a trip to Toys R’ Us to spend the money he earned.
