The Bel Air Town Commissioners are considering charging an additional “convenience fee” to those town residents and businesses who pay their tax bills and other fees and charges by credit card.
Resolution 980-12, set to be introduced during Monday night’s session, would impose a convenience fee for credit card payments. The town began accepting credit card payments for real estate taxes and sewer service charges in 2007. However, as the volume of residents and businesses making the payments has increased, the cost to the town for the ability to process such transactions has also increased. The resolution expected to be introduced Monday night would charge a fee of 3.15% of payment plus 25 cents per transaction for real estate payments by credit card and $4.50 per transaction per increments of $150 for sewer service charges and Bay Restoration fees credit card payments.
Also Monday night, the town commissioners will hold public hearings on Ordinance 750-12, a development regulations amendment regarding new height limits for single family homes and townhouses in R-2 District, Resolution 978-12, the town’s tentative FY 2013 budget.
Also Monday night, the town commissioners are expected to award a contract for sewer line root control maintenance and present an Historic Preservation Commission proclamation and poster contest.
The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in Bel Air Town Hall.
