Longtime Havre de Grace City Councilmen Fred Cullum and Jim Miller will say their goodbyes Monday night, as they official step down from the dais and newcomers David Glenn and Joseph Smith – two of the three highest vote-getters in the city’s May 8 municipal election – take their place. Glenn and Smith will take the Oath of Office Monday night along with Bill Martin, the reigning city council president – who was the only incumbent on the ballot to prove successful in his re-election bid.
After the new-look city council is assembled Monday night, its members will adjourn into a closed session to vote in private on which among them will serve as the city council president.
Earlier in the evening, the city council will hold a pair of public hearings, concerning the tax rate and backflow protection to the city water supply.
Also Monday night, Mayor Wayne Dougherty will present the thrid quarter financial report, Martin will introduce a resolution approving a temporary seal for the city to commemorate the bicentennial of the city’s involvement in the War of 1812, and Christine Berry (Arts Commission), Daniel Edwards (Tree Commission) and Billee Smith (Tourism Advisory Board) will be officially installed onto their respective committees.
