From the Harford County Public Library:
The annual Literary Spelling Bee at the Harford County Farm Fair was filled with excitement for spellers and readers alike. Hosted by Harford County Public Library, thirty-nine participants from children through adult competed in this year’s event on July 29.
Children enjoyed spelling words like “archery” fromThe Hunger Games and “immortal” from the Twilight series. Adults were challenged with words like “soliloquy” and “pseudonym.” All participants were given a Farm Fair ribbon and small prize from the Library. The first, second and third place winners were also allowed to choose a new book from the library plus the Library mascot, Tales, was in attendance to cheer on the children and take pictures with the winners.

Entering Grades 1-2:
First Place- Andrew Fulco

Second Place- Elysa Puglionesi
Third Place- Jack Blondell
Entering Grades 5-6:
First Place- Brianna Miller
Second Place- Katie Borlie
Third Place- Juliette Gray
Entering Grades 7-8:
First Place- Faith Hill
Second Place- Kayla Kozak
Third Place- Courtney Hill
Entering Grades 9-12:
First Place- Ananya Tripathi
Second Place- Damian Williams
Adults:
First Place- Katie Wirth
Second Place- Mary Lynn Bezek
Third Place- Ron Echegaray

The 2012 Harford County Public Library Literary Spelling Bee at the Harford County Farm Fair saw 39 participants from across six age categories compete for top honors.
