From SARC
SARC, a non-profit working to stop the pattern of violence in our community, is looking for volunteers to participate in their quarterly 26 Hour Basic Crisis Response Training and 8 Hour Hospital Companion Training in January.
Since 1978, SARC has provided hope and resources to victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, child abuse and stalking. Services are provided at no cost to victims and their families. These include 24 Hour Helpline, counseling, legal representation, a 28 bed confidential safe house, and community outreach and education. Many of these services are made possible by dedicated volunteers, all of which go through these crucial trainings. These trainings include information on the dynamics of domestic & sexual violence, as well as methods for crisis response & intervention in order to prepare volunteers to answer crisis calls on the 24 Hour Helpline and be an advocate for victims at Harford County hospitals.
SARC’s 26 Hour Basic Crisis Response will take place on:
Saturday, January 5th, 9:00am-5:00pm
Sunday, January 6th, 9:30am-4:00pm
Tuesday, January 8th, 5:30pm-9:00pm
Wednesday, January 9th, 5:30pm-9:00pm
Thursday, January 10th, 5:30pm-9:00pm
The additional 8 Hour Hospital Companion Training will be held:
Friday, January 11th, 5:30pm-9:00pm
Saturday, January 12th (at Harford Memorial Hospital), 9:00am-1:30pm
Both trainings will be held at SARC’s Bel Air Offices. Refreshments will be provided. All interested parties please contact Brittany Anthony, banthony@sarc-maryland.org or 410-836-8431 for a formal volunteer application.
