From the office of U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski:
CHAIRWOMAN MIKULSKI STATEMENT ON HOUSE INACTION ON DISASTER ASSISTANCE SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATIONS BILL
Chairwoman pledges to make enacting disaster assistance bill urgent priority in new Congress
Senate bill passed last week would aid communities across the nation still struggling to recover from Super-Storm Sandy and other natural disasters of the past year
WASHINGTON – Senate Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.) today issued the following statement after House Republican leadership refused to take up the Super-Storm Sandy Supplemental Appropriations Bill, emergency legislation passed last week by the Senate to provide federal resources to communities struggling to recover from the devastating storm and other disasters that have occurred over the last year:
“As Chairwoman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I am deeply disappointed that the House failed to act last night on emergency relief for communities devastated by Super-Storm Sandy.
“The bipartisan disaster assistance bill passed by the Senate provides resources to help recover and rebuild American lives and communities. It is long past time that communities in Maryland, New York, New Jersey and across the nation get the resources and support they need from their federal government. We’ve got businesses that need to restart and homes that need to be rebuilt. The TV cameras have left, but the compelling human need has not.
“I am committed to helping the communities that were hit by Super-Storm Sandy. I will make enacting a supplemental bill an urgent priority in the new Congress.”
Seriously, get the belt says
Im deeply disappointed in the amount of Pork Shoved into this bill. She has nobody but herself and her party to thank. Im glad it wasnt passed. The pork-barrel feast includes more than $8 million to buy cars and equipment for the Homeland Security and Justice departments. It also includes a whopping $150 million for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to dole out to fisheries in Alaska and $2 million for the Smithsonian Institution to repair museum roofs in DC.
An eye-popping $13 billion would go to “mitigation” projects to prepare for future storms.
Other big-ticket items in the bill include $207 million for the VA Manhattan Medical Center; $41 million to fix up eight military bases along the storm’s path, including Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; $4 million for repairs at Kennedy Space Center in Florida; $3.3 million for the Plum Island Animal Disease Center and $1.1 million to repair national cemeteries.
So Babs, you can kiss our tax paying asses. Pass a clean bill for once in your crooked life.

Hey Babs
How about you show a little class and admit the real reason why the bill is in trouble.
The number of selfish arrogant politicians who made the bill their own little pork barrel project.
I do not know what is worse, the pork or Babs attempt to make political hay out of it.
Ladies and gentlemen this nonsense from Babs is a perfect example of why exactly this country is so screwed.
Sorry for the lack of respect in my response but I am done with these clowns and their embarrassing behavior!
