From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office:
[February 1, 2013, Edgewood, MD] — On January 31, 2013 at 10:36 p.m., Harford County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of shots fired in the 1600 block of Candlewood Court in Edgewood.
Upon arriving, deputies located two male subjects in a field in the Cunion Recreational Park, which is adjacent to Candlewood Court. The victims were identified as Michael Wayne Kearins, 17, and Christopher Thomas Cousins, 18, both of the 1900 block Harewood Road, Edgewood, Maryland.
Cousins was flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma by Maryland State Police Medivac where his condition is listed as guarded and he is expected to survive his injuries. Kearins was transported by ambulance to the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Preliminary information provided to deputies was that both young men were in the Cunion Recreational Park when they were approached by several suspects who shot both young men multiple times. Neither victim could provide a description of the suspects. Investigation is continuing.

Harford County please flatten edgewood with heavy equipment and run those criminals back to Baltimore City. We don’t need the crack dealers, drug users, gang-bangers and armed criminals any longer. The great experiment has failed.

Well, in light of the “feel good” federal and state laws, the “Scum Lords” are not permitted to pick and choose who their tenants are. They are not allowed to discriminate based on age, color, sex, etc…etc…etc…
How are the owners guilty at that point? If they REFUSE to rent to these people, then the next thing you know Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are out creating a stir in the Edgewood neighborhoods because of “housing discrimination”.
No, it is not pointless to point out where the scum is coming from. It is a fact that as housing became more affordable thanks, in large part, to the programs created by the Obama Administration – the people left the city in droves, and into Edgewood (and other areas). So when you think about what caused the inner-city to turn to crap, and those same mentalities and personalities are moving to the more suburban areas, they are bringing their attitudes and thug-like tendencies with them.

Not everyone can afford to live in Bel Air and Forest Hill….I live in Edgewood but don’t consider myself a thug, gang-banger, criminal or uneducated. Please stop putting “Edgewood people” as a stereo-type. I’m white, have a college education and a full time job. Pretty sure there are criminals all over Harford County. Sure, there are more cases of welfare and poverty in Edgewood….that’s the governments fault for not holding the Housing Authority accountable by spreading out people who are on section 8!

Man, and to think, years and years ago everyone having a good ol’time riding their dirt bikes at Edgewood Raceway would have never envisioned that area to become what it has.
The government local,state or federal only care about the citizens at election time. This is a fact for 200 years. Obama could care a less about Chicago, Omalley Baltimore,(he is chasing the white house). The harford county government is only worried about where they are eating lunch? No B.S. Edgewood is just as Harlem in the 50’s(smaller scale). The urban dwellers were leaving the city for a better life and they took their social problems with them. One peice of rotten fruit can ruin the basket. Baltimore officials loved this because we now have Canton and Johns Hopkins has student housing. Think before you point the governments have created this and each county has it. The process is risk managment which they expect these behaviors. Edgewood is contained. There are some great dedicated people in Edgewood.

I totally agree Lisa, where is the sympathy for the gang that has permanently lost one of its affiliates and temporary lost another. What about the poor drug dealer that was going to meet these young men, he has suffered lost wages and probably has child support to pay. On top of that, another young thug will eventually spend a large portion of his life for this shooting. The remaining Cousins’ family members currently serving time in jail will be down a visitor for awhile and unable to retaliate until their release. We absolutely should be considering these important losses.
