From Harford County Public Schools:
The Board of Education of Harford County met for an open business meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, February 11, 2013 in the Board Room of the HCPS/A.A. Roberty Building and took the following actions or received the following presentations:
Recognized the following:
– 2013 All-Eastern and All-State Student Musicians
– Emergency Response Team – C. Milton Wright High School
Approved the Consent Agenda:
– Affirmation of Monthly Contract Awards
– Minutes of Previous Board Meeting: January 28, 2013
– Decision on Award of Contract: Purchase of School Buses
Received a presentation from Ms. Judy Jenkins, director of curriculum from Maryland State Department of Education and Dr. Susan P. Brown, HCPS coordinator of intervention, on the new Common Core State Standards. In addition, Forest Hill Elementary School Principal Tammy Bosley and Havre de Grace Middle School Principal Tony Bess were in attendance to provide the principal’s perspective regarding the transition to the new Common Core State Standards.
Received a presentation on the Quarterly Financial Report for the Period Ending December 31, 2012.
Received a presentation on HCPS Investment Packages by Mr. Greg Plotycia, Harford County Education Association (HCEA) member.
During the Superintendent’s Report:
– Recognized International Baccalaureate senior Marisa Russell who earned a coveted internship with ABC-2 News. She was just one of eight students in the state selected for the opportunity to work as a journalist in the news industry while in high school.
