The North Harford High School instructional assistant charged with the sexual abuse of a 15-year-old student had a two-month relationship with the boy, in which the pair had sex in her vehicle and exchanged nude text photos, according to court documents.
According to charging documents, the victim told a social worker with the Harford County Child Advocacy Center that he and Amanda Kay Miller, 35, of Whiteford began communicating with each other outside of school during the week of Dec. 17. According to the student, their contact included sexual acts while parked in the driveway of his home and in the parking lot of the Fallston Wal-Mart, as well as exchanging nude photos with each other. He added that Miller drove him home on several occasions and bought him cigarettes.
The interview took place at North Harford High School on Monday, according to the charging documents. Miller was arrested at the school that day, police said.
In an interview with Maryland State Police investigators, Miller corroborated the details of the student’s story, adding that “she knows her actions were inappropriate.”
Miller has been employed as an inclusion helper at North Harford High School since January 30, 2012, according to Harford County Public Schools spokeswoman Teri Kranefeld. Miller is currently on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
An inclusion helpers provides “support to students during instruction, prepares instructional materials for students under the direction of the teacher, and charts data on student progress.” Kranefeld said the employee screening process for that position “is the same as all HCPS positions. Background checks and fingerprinting are conducted for all personnel as required by law. Background checks/fingerprinting are handled by the Department of Safety and Correctional Services and Correctional Services for the State of Maryland, and the FBI.
Miller appears to have no record of other offenses in the state of Maryland, according to court records. Miller is charged with Sexual Abuse of a Minor, third-degree sex offense, and two counts of fourth-degree sex offense. Under state law, the maximum penalty for each is 25 years in prison, 10 years in prison, and one year in prison each, respectively.

WOWZA!!!! I wonder if they’ll give her the same light penalty they gave the blonde woman in FL. The judge said she was “too pretty” to go to jail and restricted her to house arrests. She will be the happy recipient of yet another Double Standard in our society! She needs to be prosecuted and registered as a sex offender like any other person who would commit such an act.
I graduated in the 90’s. I along with some of my friends had sex with a female teacher on a number of occasions during our junior and senior years. We know the guys she replaced us with after we graduated. It’s a different world now and I know one thing for sure, we never called each other victims. We also never swapped pics of each other. However I wish I had some pics of her now she was very hot. I think that is why I get my wife to dress up like a hot nerdy teacher sometimes. I’m somewhat ashamed to say that I understand the double standard issue. If I found out my son was nailing his hot teacher I would not report it may not even try to stop it. If it was my daughter well after I was done beating him I would report him then beat his ass again while I was in jail him. I cannot explain why but it is different somehow. So go on and attack me all you want. I would not change a thing.

A female teacher who molests young boys, or teenage boys is no better than Sandusky, and it’s not all that uncommon for victims to become complicit in their own abuse or the abuse of others. An adult who uses a minor as a sex toy is no less a monster because the minor “wanted” it. As a mother I wish they would punish male and female molesters exactly the same with extremely harsh penalties.

Whatever she gets will be about 1/10th of what a male teacher would get even if the girl was 17, which would be covered under the age of consent in MD. This double standard goes on nation wide and is just wrong. Why is a woman doing a young boy and different than a guy doing a young girl. There is no difference and the punishment should not be different.
