From the North Bay Rugby Football Club:
North Bay Rugby Football Club, a Division III men’s rugby club based in Aberdeen, has announced its schedule for the spring 2013 season. Following their undefeated fall league season, resulting in the club’s third consecutive Potomac Rugby Union championship, North Bay will host a first round Mid-Atlantic playoff match against Virginia Rugby Football Club on April 20.
But before the club embarks on its quest for a national championship, it has scheduled a tough slate of games that will prepare the team for its playoff run.
The season kicks off on March 9 with the annual North Bay Grey Ghost Cup tournament at John Carroll High School. The tournament is an all-day event, and North Bay hopes to keep the Cup in Harford County as they take on teams from across the Mid-Atlantic region.
Following the tournament are four home matches against Wilmington (March 16), Severn River (March 23), Frederick (March 30), and Washington Irish (April 13).
All games with the exception of the Grey Ghost Cup tournament are scheduled to kickoff at 1pm at North Bay’s home pitch at Demarco Park in Aberdeen behind the Beards Hill Home Depot. The schedule is subject to change, so those interested in attending a match should visit the club’s website, NorthBayRugby.com, for any updates.
In order to help raise funds for the club’s playoff run as well as to ensure a lasting link between the current squad and the many alumni from the club’s 13 year history, the club is holding the first annual North Bay RFC Hall of Fame Induction Banquet on Sunday, March 24 from 2pm to 6pm at the Richlin Ballroom in Edgewood. Contact Eddie Mikhail, Men’s Club Captain, at 443-417-8680 or eamikhail@gmail.com for more information or to purchase a ticket.
The club always welcomes new players. Experience is a plus but not necessary. Visit the club’s website for practice times and contact information.
