From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office:
[March 13, 2013, Bel Air, MD] — On Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at approximately 11:50 AM, Deputies of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office initiated a call for an escaped suspect at the Courthouse in the unit block of Courtland St.
Preliminarily, the suspect, Alton Cumbo Jr., 19, of Edgewood, MD arrived at court for a Violation of Probation hearing before Judge Carr who ordered him into custody. While in custody, Mr. Cumbo abruptly ran from the Court House. He was apprehended a short distance away and is being charged with escape.

What we need is to upgrade security at the courthouse. Harford County is behind the times when it comes to protecting the workers and public. There seems to be a mentality of less security and more of make the public feel good. Is is going to take another serious incident to wake people up. We are in a time when security needs to be at the highest level and training. The HCSO does a good job at protecting the public and that is where security issues need to be formulated and implemented. Yes this is a public building and it needs to be protected. What would have happened if the turd would have taken a hostage. My thoughts go to the people who work in the building and the fine men and women of the HCSO who protect these people and building. Buildings can be replaced and people can not….only if they don’t do their job. Hopefully he will be found guilty and given the max!
The “security” is called a Judge and a sentence. Bet (?) he was out on bail before the p/work was done.
