A Churchville woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Thursday while exiting her neighborhood, Maryland State Police said.
Elizabeth A. Wald, 19, of Churchville was killed at approximately 5:55 a.m. while attempting to make a left from Rolling Road onto Route 136. State police said her 2001 Saturn LS failed to yield the right-of-way to a northbound Ford F-450 utility truck driven by Edwin L. Bowman Jr., 48, of Churchville and was struck on the driver’s side of her vehicle.
Both vehicles came to rest against an electric pole approximately 100 feet north of Rolling Road, state police said. Wald was pronounced dead at the scene. Bowman suffered non life-threatening injuries in the crash. Neither speed nor alcohol were believed to be a factor in the crash, according to state police.
Route 136 was closed for several hours between Cool Spring Road and Route 22 while the utility pole was replaced and an investigation was conducted.

So sad, I am so sorry to hear about this, so heart breaking. Worry’s me so much, our 17 years old daughter has her learner permit and going to start drivers ed in June. I tell preach to her all the time to make sure she not only watch and follow the laws on the roads, but to watch out for the other drivers, always be ready and beware of everything going on around her. Just scares me so much. Rt 136 is a scary road anyway, there is no where to get off the road, and there is always people speeding, passing each other, not saying this was the case this morning but have seen it so many times. My prayers go out to the young girls family & friends.

I travel Rt 136 everyday from Rt 165 to Rt 22. People pass me everyday like there is no tomorrow up past Whiteford pharmacy where the speed limit is 30 mph. When I get to Rt 22 I usually pull right up behind these same idiots at the traffic light at Rt 22. Speeding down the road does not gain you nothing, except maybe getting in an accident or a ticket. As for the young drivers, you have to pay attention to all the signs along the road. They are there for your safety and mine. Our prayers go out to the family. We have a young driver on the road and have twins who will be driving soon.
