A Forest Hill home was destroyed by a two-alarm fire which took more than three dozen firefighters approximately four hours to bring under control.
The blaze was reported by a passerby at 3:27 a.m. in a home on the 200 block of Chestnut Hill Road in Forest Hill, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Approximately 40 firefighters from the Bel Air, Jarrettsville, Whiteford, and Darlington volunteer fire companies battled the blaze for about four hours.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Neither a sprinkler nor a smoke alarm were present in the 60-foot by 56-foot home. The State Fire Marshal’s Office estimated the loss of the home at $70,000, and damage to its contents at $30,000.
