How about his vote AGAINS higher taxes both in Annapolis and Washington. And of course the BIG ONE Obama care he voted both AGAINST the bill voted numerous times to REPEAL it.
Thank you Andy
Sal Grif says
Andy, keep up the good work, you are doing a great job
Bill H says
What has he done?
Sal Grif says
Apparently you are not up to date and it is easy to be critical, read his mail, follow him on his web ETC and you would be informed, but please don’t speak from ignorance. Ignorance is a lack of knowledge.
Bill H says
So we are gonna put you in the haven’t a clue so I can’t answer the question camp…
Next time I’ll try an easier question like where do you stand on imported women’s shoe tariffs, or human cloning…. you know those subjects that are near and dear to Andy.
Junyang Gu says
“We should not be judged on how many new laws we create, We ought to be judged on how many laws we repeal.”
Harford Resident says
He hasn’t done a darn thing to help his constituents who work at APG resolve the furlough. Everybody who works there is now losing a day’s pay per week. And that impacts more than the employees – local small businesses also feel the result of those folks reduced purchasing power. And where is Andy on this matter? Nowhere to be found. He’s not getting my vote next time.

Andy Harris is clueless about the needs of his district. Let’s see here with the furloughs he has done the following:
1. Decreased local GDP by taking money out of our economy.
2. Is not focused on the needs of the 11,500 personnel at APG who have lost 20% of their wages.
3. When I call his office his staff is not even familiar with USC or CFR. Further, they thought Federal Employees could receive unemployment (which is not true).
4. Is anti-small business. If he favored small business, he would ensure that all APG employees were back at work full time. As you may or may not know, APG employees generate a huge amount of revenue for our local economy. It is so bad that businesses in HDG are giving up to 50% discounts on their products/services just to stay in business.
VOTE HARRIS OUT! BAD FOR MARYLAND AND BAD FOR THE FIRST DISTRICT!
Tired of whiny feds says
1. You’re referring to the South Jersey economy?
2. 11500 out of many many more
3. Are you collecting unemployment?
4. Go spend some money on your extra day off and support the local shops.
NoFurloughs says
Tired of whiny feds, I have lived here most of my life. Your comments make no sense.
How can you spend more money when Federal Employees have had a 20% tax imposed on them?
Bottom line is Harris is out of touch with our community.
HARRIS=BAD FOR MARYLAND AND BAD FOR FIRST DISTRICT!
RTFU says
1. Federal Employees can get unemployment coverage under the Government Employee’s Unemployment law, which is out there, but not widely advertised. To use it, you would have to combine all of your furlough days into one stretch…which you CAN do with OPM approval.
2. Harris didn’t enact sequestration. If you remember, our illustrious, blind, lying President promised he would not allow it to happen.
3. Certainly you are not comparing your list wages to a 20% tax? A tax? Try to claim it, and then see if it is a tax.
4. How is anti-small business relating to sequestration?
APG ain’t the end all be all of Harford County, get over yourself.
Fine, don’t vote Republican. Then when a dippy Democrat takes office, don’t blame Harris for the next round of new taxes to cover their failing programs.
Sal Grif says
you and your cohorts make about as much sense as a two year old
Jaguar Judy says
NoFurlough, Maybe you would have preferred Wendy Rosen.
Congressman Harris, I continue to support you. Stop the crazy spending and borrowing and do not give an inch on increasing the debt limit. Continue investigating the IRS scandal which is now at the White House and the Federal Elections Commission. Find out what really happened in Benghazi. And stop Obamacare.
Keesha Jackson says
No, Keesha, he would have preferred Anthony Weenie.
nofurloughs says
Jaguar Judy, once i found out about Wendy Rosen’s voting issue in 2 states, I was turned off.
I do not disagree with you. One thing that you are not looking at is how furloughs are hurting our economy from a micro and a macro perspective. A lot of folks don’t realize that you can not furlough congress. The 27th amendment precludes it.
I do not support taking money out of the middle class. How do you think the wealthy make money? We are a consumer driven economy.
Andy Harris is a physcian who pretends to understand business. Look no one is perfect. It is time for a change in first district.
Jaguar Judy what do you propose? Do you want to prolong the furlough? Do you not support the middle class?
VOTE NO TO HARRIS.
B says
Almost half of your paycheck is borrowed by the federal government. Who is really taking the money from the middle class?
nofurloughs says
Please don’t forget 70 percent of gdp is based on consumer spending. When you take consumers out of the marketplace you negatively affectthe economy.
B says
You are an expense. Money taken from other people. Your spending doesn’t offset the fiscal impact of your position in the economy.
Patrick Henry says
Nofurloughs,
You should take your newly aquired time to start reading some books on Econ 101. First, you did not receive your salary until it was extracted in thd form of taxes from people who work and produce in the private economy.
Second, you should consider yoirself lucky that you are only seeing a TEMPORARY 20% reduction in pay and that you have a job from which it is next to impossible to be fired or have the position eliminated. Many in the private sector in Harford County and across the state and nation are seeing their jobs eliminated or havi g their hours severly reduced to the point where it is offically consider part time.
Arturro Nasney says
nofurlough, you are barking at the wrong dog. Our president is the one who insisted on the sequestration business last year. He, foolishly, thought it would bring the parties together and that they would all “compromise” on the budget. The dems idea of compromise was to increase spending and raise revenues. The repubs idea was to reduce spending and attack the deficit. I don’t care which side you agree with, they were slightly more than 180 degrees out of sync with each other. Now when the pres realized that sequestration was imminent he told his department heads to take the hits by decreasing salaries. Three cabinet chiefs; trans, USDA and defense came back with ideas that would take the reductions through deferral or cancellation of programs. The response form 1600 Pennsylvania was to make it hurt by cutting the people! That is your employer! The commander in chief is the guy who is solely responsible for your 20% pay cut. The House of representatives had a budget plan that would have done the entire job and avoided the whole mess, but the sycophant at the senate would not introduce it. I encourage yo to stay pissed off at your employer but don’t shift it to one of the guys who was actually trying to help.
nofurloughs says
Proof?
Harford Resident says
Andy has done nothing. I thought NJ politicians were bad till I saw his lack of support for his constituents, the local Federal employees. I’ll vote for anyone except him next time.
nofurloughs says
Well said Harford Resident. He caters to the uneducated individuals. Those that can not think for themselves.
B says
A member of the socialist collective lecturing on individual thought. Priceless.
NoFurloughs says
Patrick Henry, it appears that you sir do not understand economics.
You are correct, most Fed Employees (not all) are paid with tax dollars.
Secondly, when the Federal Government spends money it trickles down to businesses.
This trickle down (This was Ronald Reagan’s favorite term) allows businesses to hire and employ people.
Once you cut that off, people start to get laid off. Evidence of businesses hurting can be found in Havre de Grace (hdgtourism.org). These small businesses are giving their products/services away with a steep discount.
You discuss the “private economy.” I am thinking you mean the private sector. All citizens of the United States consume products/services. You may or may not know this but 70% of GDP (Gross Domestic Product) is based on consumer spending.
Bottom Line: There are a lot of Federal Employees in this area that are being hurt. Once you “extract” their income from them, this lack of income hurts everyone.
Listen, I know people were/are unemployed. Times have been tough for everyone. Fed Employees have not had a raise in 3 years. This does not mean that one group of people is better then the other. We are all Americans!
This is not the time to inject feelings into what is going on in our country. This is business. When you take close to a million people out of the full time workforce, there are challenges that will occur for all of us!

@NoFurloughs
So you say –
“You are correct, most Fed Employees (not all) are paid with tax dollars. Secondly, when the Federal Government spends money it trickles down to businesses.”.
You’re an idiot.
By your flawed logic the government should employ all the unemployed.
And that would solve unemployment and the economy would rebound by all the new consumer spending.
You are brilliant!
Why didn’t anyone else think of this?
NoFurloughs says
@Common Sense
I did not say that all unemployed should be employed by the Federal Government.
You put words in my mouth.
Thank you for your comments.
Common Sense says
@NoFurloughs
If we want to reduce government spending we naturally want to reduce direct and indirect government employees.
Your understanding a economics is abysmal.
You are espousing a view that more federal government spending grows our economy.
nofurloughs says
@common sense. Please. Small businesses are reducing their hours to stay in business. He is concerned about his health insurance and his salary. He only attracts the uneducated unread individuals.
HARRIS–BAD FOR MARYLAND BAD FOR FIRST DISTRICT
Common Sense says
@nofurloughs
You are offensive by suggesting that barely literate and ignorant voters put Andy into office.
Andy is an advocate for reduced government spending and tax reform/cuts both of which are good for the US economy.
I get it that you are upset about the furloughs.
You need to blame President Obama for sequester since he owns it.
Why don’t you get a lucrative non-government related private sector job?
ALEX R says
No, we can’t possibly blame Obama for anything.
nofurloughs says
@Common Sense. Great. Ill be your boss. Stop playing on the internet during the day. 1040a on a work day.
Common Sense says
@nofurloughs
So you want to change the subject. I get it. You can’t find any answers to reply to me with?
It’s okay.
A feeble liberal mind sometimes has a difficult time with concepts that others find obvious and easy.
NoFurloughs says
@ Common Sense.
Actually you were the individual that mentioned the private sector.
I made the observation that you are on the internet using company resources.
Common Sense says
@NoFurloughs
You make a lot of assumptions about what I can do with my time and resources.
The fact of the matter is you don’t know what I do for a living or what my responsibilities are.
Keith Gabel says
There are many problems with Andy Harris. Nobody truly disputes them.
Let’s start with this press release. His community forum starts at 5:30pm. In a bedroom community, such as Bel Air, this will mean that the majority of his working people will either have to leave work early to be there on time or, somehow, rush to get there through Harford County’s rush hour traffic. (Yes, most office workers still leave work at 5pm.) This indicates his office isn’t really sure when people are actually working.
Here is the beginning and end of all conversations about Andy Harris. In 2011, Harris voted against the Budget Control Act, which, had he had his way, would have forced the United States to default on its debts for the first time in history. I contacted his office about this and was informed that his office believes that by not paying our debts, our creditors would know that the country was serious about solving its debt problems. You cannot argue with logic like that. You can medicate it, but you cannot argue with it.
Common Sense says
Keith Gabel –
You wrote –
“There are many problems with Andy Harris. Nobody truly disputes them.”
Really, I dispute your assertion.
So your above statement is proved wrong quickly and easily.
nofurloughs says
If there is a viable dem or ind Harris will be jobless. His anti small business agenda is not for this district.
Common Sense says
@nofurloughs
Andy is pro small business.
NoFurloughs says
@ Common Sense:
How can Andy be for small business when businesses all across our region are being affected by sequestration? IF Andy was…A BIG BIG IF? Why is that he can not lead. He is only interested in citing the negatives within our area–not the positives.
Bottom Line: Andy Harris does not care about Small Business. It doesn’t benefit his agenda.
HARRIS=BAD FOR MARYLAND, BAD FOR FIRST DISTRICT
Common Sense says
@NoFurloughs
President Obama is responsible for sequestration.
President Obama signed it into law.
ALEX R says
You are joking, right? You said “If there is a ‘viable Dem’? ”
When pigs fly. Or when Wendy Rosen gets released. Wait, I know, maybe we can convince Anthony Weenie to move to Maryland. Or mayor Filner.
Because says
Wouldn’t matter to you anyway. You could put lipstick on apig this county and run it as a Republican and it would win. Just like the idiots that voted for Wendy Rosen in the last election.
Keith Gabel says
Common Sense – Normally, I enjoy reading your comments, but we need to face some facts on Andy Harris.
Your choice to not believe the facts about Andy Harris does not negate the reality of my statement. I understand that many on this comment section desperately want to believe that Harris is working in their best interest. He is a populist. His job is to make people believe his half-truths and wishful thinking. This is what sets him apart from the Republican mainstream, that is those who are for limited government and fiscal responsibility.
No Republican worth his salt would ever vote to diminish the United States standing in the world and its economic prowess by voting in favor of defaulting on the United States debt, which is the de facto reality of his position was during the Budget Control Act of 2011. There are those who don’t understand how the government appropriates its funding and how it borrows money to pay for its programs. Andy Harris appeals to them with his rants about how their lack of knowledge on this subject is equivalent to reality. It isn’t and won’t be until the laws governing this are changed to reflect Harris’ worldview.
Now, as long as mainstream Republicans control the House and the minority of the Senate, there is little damage that people like Harris can do to the country. However, what he can do is to make a laughing stock out of the good voters of MD’s first district. He has done this and has vowed to continue to do so, most notably on his stance on the United States and its duty to pay its debts. Calling default “fiscally conservative” is an insult to Americans everywhere.
Common Sense says
@Keith Gabel
We disagree on Andy.
The Budget Control Act of 2011 does not cause a US default.
Cdev says
correct but Harris voted against it!
Keith Gabel says
@Common Sense – You are correct, the passage of the Budget Control Act of 2011 prevented the US from defaulting on its debt, as it raised the statutory borrowing authority. Failure to pass it would have forced the US to default on its debts. Harris voted against passage without leaving enough time for another bill to pass both houses of Congress.
In Harris’ defense, he claims that the US would have continued to pay its debts, just not the rest of its obligations, like defense, Social Security, transportation, etc. – meaning that Congress would simply ignore the appropriations laws / continuing resolutions that passed both houses of Congress and were signed by the President. For most, this is a distinction without much of a difference.
Common Sense says
And Andy was right, President Obama got his sequestration.
Keith Gabel says
Sequestration was bipartisan. In the House, 95 Democrats and 174 Republicans voted yea. In the Senate it was 45 Democrats and 28 Republicans. Yes, it is correct that Obama didn’t veto it and force the nation into default. Yes, Harris is correct. The center-left and center-right saved the day in the short term, but left us with sequestration as the only means to reduce the deficit, since the work of the so-called Supercommittee was pretty much set up to fail from the beginning.
nofurloughs says
Must be nice to make 174k a year and have a month vacation.

Common Sense says

NoFurloughs says
@ Common Sense. It’s amazing how you twist my words.
How is that a viable comment?
Common Sense says
@NoFurloughs
Not amazing at all.
You said “He forgets there are poor federal employees who have kids that can’t make their mortgages or buy food.”
I simply asked you “Are you suggesting that federal employees with children should get paid a bit more than the people who don’t have kids?”
I’ll ask you again what did you mean?
The problems arise from the words you write.
hope says
Why is Andy against health care for all. Wait a second he has a great health care plan. Guess he dosen’t want other jpeople to have health care. Maybe that is why he is against Obamacare.
nofurloughs says
Well said. He only cares about Andy. Let’s not forget who wanted healthcare the day he was elected.
Disgusted says
It wasn’t so much that he wanted the free healthcare on day one but the public meltdown when he found out he couldn’t even pay for it. He would have to go out into the big world and for the first time in his life buy his own insurance.
Jaguar Judy says
Hope, The reason he is against Obamacare is the same reason the unions are against it, including the union that represents IRS workers. And the same reason that all of Congress and all of the Executive branch want no parts of it. Has Senator Mikulski introduced a bill that says that all Senators must give up their current Cadillac plan and embrace Obamacare? No way. Oh, and it is not really health care for all. Sorry to burst your bubble. Most of the jobs that have been created this year (77%) are part time jobs and those people aren’t covered. Now that the bill has been passed maybe you should take Ms. Pelosi’s advice and read it. That would be the same Nancy Pelosi who has sponsored more waivers from Obamacare than any other Representative or Senator. Google ‘obamacare waivers’ and then tell me why if it is so great everyone wants to be exempt.
ALEX R says
And maybe, Hope, you could also explain why the Obama administration is granting those waivers if the plan is so great. Could it be because many who want the waiver are big supporters of the Democratic party and the current administration? Or is the administration too busy doing other things like covering up the IRS/White House tax exempt scandal that now has been revealed to include the Federal Elections Commission. Or maybe it is because the are trying to keep a lid on having any of the CIA assets on the ground in Benghazi from testifying. Clinton has blood on her hands from Benghazi just as Holder does from Brian Terry.

2. Andy Harris has done nothing for our district. So yes, I blame him. He did nothing as a State Senator and beat Frank Kratovil out of a seat in a year that was Anti-Democratic.
3. There is no regulation for the 20% as a tax. But, folks in Private Industry are not paying it.
4. If I have to explain economics, I recommend you re-apply to a local high school or college. “How does small business relate to sequestration.” Google GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT and please let me know.
