From Citizens for Bob Cassilly:
Former Harford County Councilman Bob Cassilly has filed as a candidate for the Maryland Senate, District 34. Bob served on the Harford County Council until 2006 when he was called to active duty as a Major in the U.S. Army for service in Iraq, leading efforts to establish a provincial level government in Saddam Hussein’s hometown, Tikrit. Bob served three, year long, tours in Iraq with the Departments of Defense and State. He continued with the State Department until August 2013 supporting U.S. efforts to counter violent extremists in the Near Eastern region. He returned to the practice of law in September 2013.
Bob is also a former Bel Air Commissioner and Mayor, a former chairman of the Harford County Republican Central Committee, and an attorney. During his time on the Harford County Council and as a Bel Air Commissioner, Bob demonstrated that he is a tireless advocate for government accountability, reduced public spending, lower taxes, public safety, and strong communities, businesses, and schools. Bob wants to continue his record of public service, in Annapolis, leading efforts to restore individual initiative and personal responsibility as foundations for strong communities. He will fight to reverse the avalanche of laws, regulations and taxes that drive employers from our State and infringe fundamental rights and he will oppose wasteful government spending.
Bob is a lifelong Harford County resident and a graduate of Bel Air High School, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Baltimore Law School. He has earned numerous awards for providing free legal services to the disadvantaged.
Bob and his wife Debbie were Bel Air High School classmates. They live in the Bel Air historic district and are the parents of five children.
Senator Nancy Jacobs who represents District 34 will retire at the end of her current term. Bob thanks Senator Jacobs and her family for Senator Jacobs’ outstanding and courageous public service and dedication to the citizens of Maryland.
