From the Darlington Apple Festival, Inc.:
The Darlington Apple Festival has five main parking lots each associated with a charity, plus several other smaller lots operated by local landowners in town, all in addition to handicapped parking on School Road in town. For those arriving from Bel Air on route 1 headed North the most accessible lot is on the right-hand side of route 1 (Conowingo Road) immediately prior to the Highs Store outside of Darlington. Signs and traffic officers will direct you to the lot – it is hard to miss! Free shuttle buses will take you to the festival. Parking in every lot costs $5 per car; this first lot supports the Darlington Recreation Council. Parking lots that need new parking line markings may consider getting help from the experts like car park line marking adelaide.
For those arriving from Havre de Grace (driving up MD route 161 / Darlington Road) the most convenient lot is on Old Quaker Road. Turn right onto Old Quaker from MD161; the parking lot is on the right hand side and benefits the Darlington Independence Day Parade and 4H. This lot is immediately adjacent to the festival grounds and thus does not require shuttle bus service.
Drivers arriving from Cecil County on route 1 South have several options. There are two parking lots near the MD623 (Castleton Road) and US1 intersection – immediately adjacent to Chesapeake Harley Davidson is a lot that supports the Harford County Red Cross, and on the other side of US1 a parking lot supports the Darlington Fire Company. Both of these lots have free shuttle service to the festival. A third option is to drive past this intersection and park in a large lot on the right-hand side just past Chesapeake Harley – this lot supports Darlington Recreation Council and also has shuttle service to the festival.
Finally those with handicapped tags are welcome to park on the Darlington Elementary School grounds off of School Road. To reach handicapped parking, drivers will need to turn onto Old Quaker Road from MD161 and then School Road. There will be signs directing towards handicapped parking from every direction. Parking in this lot is also $5 and supports the Apple Festival.
Those attending the festival and driving from Bel Air on route 1 may also consider avoiding some of the traffic by using this alternate route: At rt1 / rt136 turn left. Turn right onto MD440 at the blinking light (in front of Dublin Market). Turn left onto Castleton Road and continue to parking lot. There are two parking options – the first is next to the Harley Davidson dealership and supports the Red Cross, the other is just past that lot (through the stop light) and supports the Darlington Fire Company.
Parking opens at 9am. Festival hours are from 10am until 5pm on Saturday, October 5th. Shuttle buses will continue to operate until attendees have cleared the grounds, generally around 5:15.
