From Harford County government:
Nearly four inches of rain has saturated Harford County over the past 24 hours resulting in high water covering four roads in Harford County and higher than normal levels at the Broad Creek Dam on the Boy Scout property in northern Harford County.
The roads with high or standing water include MD Rt. 440 north of U. S. Rt. 1, Castleton Road in the area of Glen Cove Road, Edwards Lane and Schucks Road and MD Rt. 755 between MD Rt. 7 and U. S. Rt. 40. The roads are passable, but caution is urged due to the standing water from the storm.
Additionally, the Department of Emergency Services was notified at approximately noon Friday that water at the spillway at the Broad Creek Dam on the Boy Scout Reservation near Darlington was reported at four feet five inches. Although there is no indication of problems with the dam, camp officials have initiated a notification process to residents in the area advising them they may want to consider temporary evacuation from their properties. There are approximately 200 cabins, mostly seasonal homes located in the vicinity of the scout reservation. Of those less than 20 are believed to be occupied at this time.
Commenting on the heavy rains and rising waters, Harford County Emergency Manager Rick Ayers said, “Although there are no indications of serious flooding in Harford County, we recommend our citizens pay close attention to changing weather conditions and take appropriate safety precautions. As a reminder, motorists should avoid driving through standing water or flooded areas,” Ayers remarked.
There are 10 dams located throughout Harford County including the Conowingo Dam. The dams are in good condition and show no signs of failing.
