From Harford County Government:
(Forest Hill, MD) – – The Harford County Department of Emergency Services will hold a public forum with Harford County Emergency Manager Rick Ayers on Friday, November 1, 2013. The meeting will be held in the auditorium of North Harford High School and will begin at 7:00 p.m.
The focus of the meeting will be a briefing by Emergency Manager Ayers regarding preparations Harford County has made with respect to an emergency incident involving the nearby Peach Bottom Atomic Power Plant. Joining Ayers will be representatives from Exelon Power, operator of the plant and Harford County Emergency Management staff.
The forum is free and open to the public.
Citizens residing or working within the 10 mile Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ) from Peach Bottom are encouraged to attend. This area includes Darlington, Dublin, Street, Whiteford and Pylesville communities.
“The Harford County Department of Emergency Services and its predecessor, the Harford County Division of Emergency Operations, have for many years developed plans and procedures to help our citizens in the event of an incident at the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Plant,” Ayers said. “We are taking this opportunity to reach out to the North Harford area community and share information with them to help them take appropriate actions should an unforeseen event occur at the power plant,” Ayers added.
Should an emergency occur involving the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Plant in nearby Pennsylvania, area residents are urged to listen to WXCY 103.7 FM in Havre de Grace for emergency messages from Harford County Government.
