Harford County Human Relations Commission Observes American Indian Heritage Month in November

The Harford County Human Relations Commission is recognizing American Indian Heritage Month in November. This commemorative month offers an opportunity to highlight the culture, traditions, music, crafts, and dance of American Indians.

“The Harford County Human Relations Commission supports the recognition of American Indian Heritage Month and the prospect of learning about and being enriched by Native American history and culture,” said Commission Chairperson Wendell Baxter, Jr.

National American Indian Heritage Month was first celebrated in 1990 when President George H. W. Bush signed a joint resolution of Congress designating the month of November as such.

The Harford County Human Relations Commission is a 15 member volunteer advisory board appointed by the County Executive with the approval of the County Council. Members serve with the County Executive representing all of the County’s population.
