From Harford County Government:
(Bel Air, MD) — Harford County Executive David R. Craig has named Janet Schaub as the new Director of Human Resources for Harford County Government. She was previously the department’s deputy director.
Schaub has worked in the county’s HR Department for 37 years, and has performed the duties of every position within the department at some point in her career. The Harford County Council unanimously confirmed Schaub as the new Director of Human Resources on Tuesday during its Legislative Session.
“I am so excited to have the opportunity to serve as Director of Human Resources,” Ms. Schaub remarked. “We have a great workforce that is extremely dedicated and hard working. This workforce enables us to provide quality services to our citizens. I thank Mr. Craig for this opportunity and also thank the County Council, fellow Cabinet Members, and my co-workers for their support and good wishes. I look forward to the challenges of this new position.”
In announcing the appointment, County Executive Craig stated, “Janet Schaub will make our leadership team stronger. She understands the dynamics of Human Resources and will keep the department moving in the right direction.”
Senior Assistant County Attorney Deborah Duvall was serving as Acting Director of the Department of Human Resources. She has returned to her regular duties in the Law Department.
The appointment for Ms. Schaub is effective Wednesday, November 13, 2013.

How is she qualified now? She should have been appointed before the high school student with out any experience.

She finally went to one of Craig’s fundraisers, and got the job.

David Craig said (in part) “she will keep the department moving in the right direction”.
That is a lie. What he should have said is “she will turn this department around and GET it moving in the right direction”. Scott Gibson was an absolute failure as Director of H.R., and ALL employees are more than happy to see him gone (but still want him to reimburse the county taxpayers for his little stint a Harvard a few months ago)!
Hey Mr. Craig….the buck stops with you. You appointed him, now own up and correct the mistake!

Congratulations on your appointment to Director of Human Resources, Janet..no one more deserving than you!

Congratulations Janet. It is great to see a good experienced Harford County employee rightfully promoted over bringing in some flunky with no experience professionally or internally.

Congrats to a great coworker, person and dedicated employee for 37 years. She was passed over before but WE always knew who made the HR department responsive to employees needs and has always been willing to go the extra mile to add value in her work, professional demeanor and can do attitude which made our job better. To those that complain about Janet getting a fair shot, please leave your political views out of it! She earned her promotion and insinuations of paying off or contributing to a campaign is just small minded citizens mouthing off about things they know nothing about. Guess what? I am sure Janet will raise about your petty political views and give her fellow coworkers the fairest of consideration in promoting, hiring or making though decisions regarding personnel matters.
