From Maryland State Police:
Troopers assigned to the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack arrested a Bel Air man today in connection with the possession of child pornography.
Walter Edward Aycock, 61, of the 900 block of Winters Court in Bel Air, Md., was arrested today and charged with Eleven counts of possessing child pornography. If convicted of the charges, Aycock could be sentenced up to 55 years in prison and/or fined up to $27,500.
Last February, a FBI Agent in Oklahoma located a person sharing child pornography over a file-sharing network. The FBI in Baltimore continued to monitor the activity, culminating with a search warrant being served by the FBI and Maryland State Police at Aycock’s Winters Court residence. The FBI Digital Analysis Research Center forensically examined the computers and recovered photographs depicting children involved in various sexual activities.
A Harford County Grand Jury indicted Aycock and an arrest warrant was subsequently issued charging Aycock with possession of child pornography. That warrant was served on Aycock, this morning, by Troopers assigned to the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack. Aycock was processed and is awaiting an initial appearance before a court commissioner.
The Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is comprised of public safety agencies from around the state. Its primary mission is to protect children from computer-facilitated sexual exploitation. The Task Force works cooperatively with law enforcement agencies and prosecutors to provide resources to combat these crimes. Additionally, the Task Force provides community awareness campaigns helping to prevent the spread of these crimes through education.
