From the Aberdeen Police Department:
Aberdeen Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred around 10:24 on the morning of Jan. 22. A 2004 GMC truck operated by Virginia Walker 69, of Aberdeen, was crossing Rt. 40 from Walmart Way. Walker’s vehicle was struck by a 2013 Nissan truck traveling west bound on Rt. 40.
The Nissan was being operated by Carrie McCall 45, of Conowingo. After being extricated from her vehicle by members of the Aberdeen Fire Department Walker was transported to Harford Memorial Hospital with life threating injuries. Walker died from her injuries at about 11:30 AM. McCall and a passenger in her vehicle, Terra Posadas 33, of Conowingo were transported by ambulance to Bayview Hospital where they are in stable condition.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The Traffic Unit of the Harford County Sheriff’s Department is assisting the Aberdeen Police in the investigation. Preliminarily it does not appear the weather was a factor in the crash.

that intersection is becoming a hazard and I hope the families find peace after this tragic accident. Please pray for everyone involved.
Kharn says
How can the intersection be a hazard? If the deceased was crossing Rt 40, and the survivor was traveling along Rt 40, one of the two entered the intersection either against the traffic light or when the intersection was not clear.
INDEPENDENT says
Can we allow the police to do their investigation before we rush to judgement on what happened? I mean for all we know there could have been an underline factor in this incident. Praying for all who were affected.
Vinnygret says
That word would be underlying, not underline.
Bob says
I prayed for them before they were affected.

The stretch of 40 between west bel air and Walmart is horrible and dangerous, it has been for a while. People travel to fast for the road, pedestrians don’t pay attention while walking and crossing in that area. The only fix for that stretch is people slowing down and paying attention, pedestrians exercising more caution and the town putting a light at the carol ave and short stop intersection (to slow down and properly direct Golden Corral traffic, because everybody’s in such a hurry to assault that buffet) and a few more street/ roadway lights to brighten up the road so people can see the pedestrians that decide to walk in the middle of the road and in front of vehicles and wear dark colored clothing. My heart goes out to the family of the departed, lord knows from working at that liquor store for so many years, I’ve assisted and rendered aid to more motorists and pedestrians involved in traffic accidents than id like to remember.
