From Harford County government:
Jennifer Strahorn Webster, a Public Safety Dispatch Shift Supervisor with the Harford County Department of Emergency Services 911 Center, is participating in the 150 mile “Ride to Conquer Cancer” bike ride through the Capital Region September 13 and 14, 2014. The purpose of the ride is to help raise money for the John Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, Sibley Memorial and Suburban Hospitals.
The two-day, 150 mile ride will commence with an inspiring opening ceremony where riders will gather to remember those friends and family members lost to cancer, as well as to honor those continuing the fight.
Mrs. Webster has experienced the life-changing impact of cancer first hand. Her mother recently lost her battle with cancer and her father has been diagnosed with cancer, but his prognosis is good.
“When I decided to participate in the ride a few months ago it was to honor both my parents, however that all changed when my mother lost her four-year battle with cancer. Now I ride to honor my father and in memory of my mom”, Webster said.
Each rider helps raise money, and their support network helps make research for cures and treatments possible. Mrs. Webster’ initial goal was to raise $3,200. However as a result of tremendous support from her co-workers, friends, and family, she has raised more than $4,000 and continues receiving donations to support her efforts.
Commenting on the event, Mrs. Webster said, “Funds raised in the “Ride to Conquer Cancer” will support breakthrough research, exemplary teaching and compassionate care made possible through the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, Sibley Memorial and Suburban Hospitals.
Commenting on Jennifer Webster’s participation in the “Ride to Conquer Cancer”, Russell J. Strickland, Director of the Department of Emergency Services said, “Cancer has affected several employees of the Department of Emergency Services, their families and loved ones. We are proud to support Jennifer with her participation in the “Ride to Conquer Cancer” and fundraising for such a noteworthy cause,” Strickland added.

Well, The Rest of the Story says
Finally a story thats uplifting about our fire/police/ ems people, no Bane or Gahler bashing and nobody appears to interested in what this young lady has been doing. Perhaps a follow up story on how well she did and other charities she and or other public servants engage in during their off time would be in order.
It would certainly be a change from the normal stuff on here. Come on Dagger, lets see some good things reported and written as well.
BTW, how well did you do Jen?
