From the Havre de Grace Housing Authority:
Public invited to the Havre de Grace Housing Authority’s annual community resource fair and street festival featuring food, games and entertainment; vendor tables still available for businesses and organizations.
Looking for a free and fun way to kick off the summer? Then bring the family to Havre de Grace on June 11 for the 5th annual Summer Jam block party hosted by The SUCCESS Project, an affiliate of the Havre de Grace Housing Authority (HDGHA). This open air street festival and community resource fair offers fun for all ages with live entertainment, music, carnival games, free legal expungements and more. The event will be held Saturday, June 11 from noon to 4:00 p.m. in the Somerset Manor neighborhood of Havre de Grace. There is no admission fee and all activities are open to the public.
Event organizers call Summer Jam a “carnival-style fair” with plenty of no-cost or low-cost activities for all ages. Children can participate in games to win prizes (10 plays for a dollar), plus enjoy free moon bounces, face painting and balloon animals among other activities. Adults can play games too, plus receive free health screenings and visit vendor booths to shop and learn about programs and services available in the Harford County area. Refreshments will be available for purchase for a nominal fee (one dollar per treat) with fair favorites such as snow-cones, cotton candy and more.
The SUCCESS Project Self-Sufficiency Program Coordinator Ellen Kunzelman says, “The SUCCESS Project Summer Jam is a great way to spend the afternoon. It’s one of our best-attended events and hundreds turn out every year to play, dance and eat while learning about the many businesses and resources in the Harford County area.”
Vendor tables are available at no cost for government agencies and non-profits, and are only $27.50 for others. Kunzelman says, “We keep the cost for vendor tables low to attract all sizes and types of organizations to the event so that attendees can discover the many great products and services that are available right next door.”
