From Friends of Jerusalem Mill:
INVITATION TO ATTEND: FREE ADMISSION! – Second Annual 1st Responders Day on Saturday, 6 Aug 2016 at Historical Jerusalem Mill Village from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
The Historic Jerusalem Mill Village is one of the oldest, most intact mill villages in Maryland, founded in 1772 when Lee’s Merchant Mill opened for business on the north bank of the Little Gunpowder Falls. In 1961 the State of Maryland purchased property that included the Grist Mill, the Blacksmith Shop, and the Miller’s House behind the mill for the Gunpowder Falls State Park. In 1985 a handful of concerned local residents formed the Friends of Jerusalem Mill (FOJM), an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. FOJM then embarked on a long journey to save and reassemble the mill village and their success is evident on both sides of Jerusalem Road in Kingsville, MD.
The FOJM officers, board of directors and members are hosting representatives from the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company, Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company, Maryland State Police Aviation Unit, Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Park Service, Harford County Sheriff’s Office and other 1st Responder Organizations at Historic Jerusalem Mill Village from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, 6 Aug 2016 (Rain Date is Saturday, 20 Aug 2016).
There will be lots of “fire-fighting and rescue vehicles”, “Maryland State Police helicopter”, tons of equipment, displays, demonstrations and activities for children of all ages. Maryland Delegate Kathy Szeliga and other elected officials will honor our 1st Responders this day with proclamations.
“FREE ADMISSSION” and Exceptional Plentiful and Affordable “Picnic Food” will be available from “Sunshine Grill Bistro and Catering”.
Spend a couple of hours with your neighbors, friends and the wonderful volunteers in our community. Family and children are invited to sign thank-you notes and poster for our heroes. FOJM sincerely appreciates the dedication and professionalism of our 1st Responders and we believe they reflect the very best of the State of Maryland.
