Officers arrived quickly; however, the male, 62, had fled the 700 block of Walker Street in his personal vehicle. Officers immediately located the suicidal man traveling on Law Street near Robinson Alley. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The male stopped his vehicle and officers gave numerous commands for the suicidal male to exit the vehicle. The male refused to comply with commands and a brief standoff ensued.
Arriving officers noticed the suicidal male appeared to be bleeding from the head. Officers assumed a tactical position and approached the vehicle. It became immediately apparent that the suicidal male had suffered a head injury. Officers entered the vehicle to render immediate medical attention. Officers removed a handgun from the suicidal male’s person. The suicidal male succumbed to his self inflicted injuries prior to EMS arrival.
