From the Bel Air Downtown Alliance:
BEL AIR, MD – April 1, 2010 – Spring has sprung and the time has arrived for Downtown Bel Air to celebrate the return of warmer temperatures and enjoying the great outdoors. The Bel Air Downtown Alliance is pleased to announce the return of “First Fridays” and invites everyone to join in the celebration starting on Friday, May 7th at 5:00 p.m.
“First Fridays” has become a fan favorite in Downtown Bel Air over the past several years and is certainly the place to be and be seen. The monthly celebration has a very loyal following of more than 500 people from the local and regional communities that come to Downtown Bel Air each and every month to enjoy live performances from local musicians, great food provided by Main Street Tower, and the beer/wine garden. “First Fridays” will be located on Office Street, next to the County Courthouse, with the festivities starting at 5:00 p.m. and ending at 8:00 p.m. The events are FREE to attend. Tickets for beer and wine are $3.00 each.
This year, the Bel Air Downtown Alliance is pleased to announce that a limited number of VIP Passes will be pre-sold for each event that will allow the VIP Pass holders access to a special line for the beer/wine garden. The VIP Passes will be sold for $10.00 each or $50.00 for a VIP Season Pass and will be available for purchase by the end of April at local retailers. For more information about the VIP Passes please visit the Bel Air Downtown Alliance’s website at www.downtownbelair.com or their Facebook Fan Page. The list of local retailers selling the VIP Passes each month will be posted on both sites. In another effort to increase “First Fridays” attendance and maximize exposure for the Downtown Bel Air merchants, an alternate location at the north end of Main Street is being considered for at least two months starting in July.

This is a private comment, actually a request. My wife’s birthday is Friday, 4 June, and we are planning a suprise family meeting at the Bel Air first friday. By meeting, I mean my wife and I plan to be at the First Friday bash, shortky after 6Pm (the end of her work day, she works for the Harford Country Treasury), and my out of town children plan to be there as a suprise. How do I get the band to announce that it is her (**$%^%) birthday?

How does a local band get on a line up for the Bel Air Downtown Alliance First Fridays events? I know of a band comprised of students from the Science and Math Academy at Aberdeen High School and Edgewood High School, and HCC graduate. This band really exhibits “diversity as its finest”. I would appreciate a contact information to get the band on the list for the next season, or for a possible back fill this season. The band “Pieces of Mercury” has perform at the Aberdeen Earthday Festival for the past 3 years, Ice World in Abingdon, Bel Air Armory, and other private parties in both Harford and Baltimore counties.
