On Monday, October 26, 2009 at about 10:00 pm troopers from the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack responded to the 300 block of Philadelphia Road, Joppa, Md. for a reported victim of a carjacking and robbery.
Troopers learned upon arrival that the victim Kara Smithson, 20 of Pylesville, Md. was accosted by three black males while occupying her silver 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt in the Harford Square neighborhood of Edgewood, Md who forced their way into Smithson’s vehicle. The victim then said she was driven to the Philadelphia Road location in Joppa where she was forced out of her vehicle.
During the trip the victim said she was struck in the head/face on several occasions and threatened with a handgun and knife by the suspects. The suspects also attempted to extort money for the victim’s release from her relatives.
(Harford County, MD – March 4, 2009) – Harford County Sheriff’s deputies and Maryland State Police are investigating a robbery and carjacking of a Serio’s Pizza delivery man that occurred in the 1100 block of Old Philadelphia Road, Aberdeen, MD on March 1, 2009.
At approximately 9:50 p.m. the male victim, 20, arrived at the delivery address in the 1100 block of Old Philadelphia Road, Aberdeen, MD, he exited his car and was walking towards the residence when he was approached from behind by three unknown male subjects.
Two of the subjects grabbed and held him while the third subject went through his pockets removing his wallet, delivery money, and car keys. After taking his property, the subjects threw the victim to the ground and then stole his car, a 2007 Nissan Sentra. The victim was not injured and was able to call police from a local residence.
(Edgewood, MD – December 31, 2008) – Harford County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested one suspect in connection with an armed carjacking which occurred on December 30, 2008.
At approximately 11:05 p.m. deputies responded to the 2000 block of Starr Street, Edgewood, MD in reference to an armed robbery and carjacking.
Harford County Sheriff’s deputies determined the male victim, 25, exited his vehicle and was walking to his residence when he was approached by a black male wearing agreen jacket and black pants. The male subject produced a knife and demanded the victim’s keys, wallet, and cell phone.
After the victim complied with these demands the suspect drove away in the victim’s 2004 Grey Chevy Aveo. The victim was not harmed during the robbery.

(October 10, 2008, Edgewood, MD) At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2008, Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a serious motor vehicle accident that occurred in the 1600 block of Hanson Road, directly in front of the Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company.
The first vehicle, a 2002 Toyota Camry, operated by 19 year old Michael A. Pringle Jr. of Edgewood MD, was traveling east on Hanson Road at a high rate of speed. For unknown reasons, the 2002 Camry crossed the center turn lane and entered the west bound lane, striking head on, the second vehicle, a 2006 Chevrolet Suburban. The Suburban was being driven by Laurie Mause, 31 of Edgewood, MD. Her children, ages 12 and 2 were passengers in the vehicle.
