Bel Air, MD – November 30, 2009 – The Harford County Health Department wishes to inform the public that, effective December 1, 2009, birth and death certificates will be issued only on weekdays between 8:00 AM and 12:00 noon. This service will continue to be provided at their administrative offices located at 120 Hays Street in Bel Air.
The cost for this service remains $20.00, payable by cash or credit card only. Personal checks will no longer be accepted
Health Officer Susan Kelly states, “Reductions in services are an unfortunate but inevitable result of the severe budget cuts the Health Department has sustained in recent months,” noting that the vacated position of a retired employee who used to staff this service must remain unfilled. “The Health Department sincerely regrets any inconvenience to the public that this may cause.”
The body found in a drainage ditch in Aberdeen on October 2nd was identified by police as Wayne A Bowser, 51, of Aberdeen. Aberdeen police said he died as a result of an accidental drowning.
At about 10:00 a.m. on Oct. 2 a contract worker discovered a body in a drainage ditch just off the eastbound exit ramp of Route 715 at Pulaski Highway in Aberdeen.
(Aberdeen, Maryland) October 2, 2009 – At about 10:00 this morning a contract worker discovered a body in a drainage ditch just off the eastbound exit ramp of Route 715 at Pulaski Highway in Aberdeen. The body is that of an adult male. Investigators continue to work to identify individual. The cause of death has not been determined; the body was removed to the Medicals Examiners Office for autopsy.

The Edgewood Community Council meeting last Wednesday got pretty heated towards the end. Since I’ve spoken up about Dwight Madison’s death at the Harford County Detention Center, I’ve been attacked by some people and asked by many people why I care so much about this “issue”. Why am I willing to piss off the Sheriff, County Executive and our Elected Officials over the death of one “homeless” man? Why? Because I believe each and every person is precious and that we ultimately help ourselves when we help our brothers thrive. Let me explain using Matthew 13:3-23 which says:

How, I ask you, does a homeless man, convicted of no crime, and charged only with misdemeanor trespassing, end up dead after being detained by officers in the Harford County Detention Center? Unfortunately the victim, Dwight Jerome Madison, can’t speak for himself. What is worse is that the only witnesses to his death are the police officers that were tasering and detaining Mr. Madison at the time of his death last Thursday. Hardly unbiased witnesses! (Aberdeen, MD – June 16, 2009) – Harford County Sheriff’s detectives have identified the male found on the railroad tracks in Aberdeen, MD on June 13, 2009 as Bernard Joseph Stiller, Jr., 49, of Deer Valley Way in Bel Air, MD.
On Saturday June 13, 2009 at 6:48 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a call from a CSX train conductor advising he observed what appeared to be a body laying on the railroad tracks in the area of Loflin Road and Old Philadelphia Road, Aberdeen, MD. Deputies responded and discovered Stiller who apparently had been struck by a train sometime during the night or early morning.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office investigating the incident positively identified Stiller through his fingerprints. Detectives are awaiting the autopsy report to determine exact cause of death.

(Bel Air, MD – June 13, 2009) – Harford County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the death of Dwight Jerome Madison, 48, who has no fixed address.
On June 11, 2009 at 8:50 p.m. deputies responded to the 900 block of Hillswood Road, Bel Air for a reported suspicious person who was later identified as Dwight Madison. Madison did not live in the vicinity and claimed that he was looking for a friend who he only knew by a first name. He was advised to leave the area, which is private property, by the responding deputy. At 10:54 p.m. deputies were again called to the 900 block of Hillswood Road, Bel Air for a reported suspicious person banging on doors. (Aberdeen, MD – June 13, 2009) – Harford County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the death of an unidentified white male found on railroad tracks in Aberdeen, MD.

Harford County Public Schools Superintendent Jacqueline Haas died Tuesday, apparently after suffering an asthma attack and then going into cardiac arrest in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
The Board of Education is expected to meet today and Harford County Executive David Craig has already sent a message to Board President Patrick Hess offering to support and meet with the Board and Administrative staff and do whatever he can to provide comfort to students, staff, and citizens and ensure a smooth transition.
(October 10, 2008, Edgewood, MD) At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2008, Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a serious motor vehicle accident that occurred in the 1600 block of Hanson Road, directly in front of the Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company.
The first vehicle, a 2002 Toyota Camry, operated by 19 year old Michael A. Pringle Jr. of Edgewood MD, was traveling east on Hanson Road at a high rate of speed. For unknown reasons, the 2002 Camry crossed the center turn lane and entered the west bound lane, striking head on, the second vehicle, a 2006 Chevrolet Suburban. The Suburban was being driven by Laurie Mause, 31 of Edgewood, MD. Her children, ages 12 and 2 were passengers in the vehicle.
