Myers: Some Man Once Said…

When giving advice, it seems to be popular to preface it with “A wise man once said …” I’d like to know where the hell this wise man is when you need him! Now more than ever, we need more tokens of wisdom as opposed to statements of total idiocy from our public figures. One need only watch a cable news network for one hour to hear four hours worth of opinions about one sentence that came out of the mouth of some public figure. Whenever I do or say something stupid that I know I’m later going to regret, I take comfort in the fact that usually somebody has done or said something much stupider.

Tea Parties “Storm the Capitol” Over Health Care

Bel Air Tea Party organizer Tony Passaro loaded up two charter buses in the parking lot of the Harford County Government building in Bel Air this morning, headed for a health care protest in Washington D. C.

Passaro said he had about 100 people, whom he called “The Old Maryland Line”, ready to join a broader movement to oppose the health care bills currently under consideration in Congress.

The effort started with a call from Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann to “Storm the Capitol” today, November 5, 2009. Passaro says he has heard from Tea Parties in Texas, Ohio, Virginia, Delaware, Idaho, Kentucky, Florida, West Virginia and Pennsylvania who also plan to answer the call.

The idea is to meet on the Capitol steps today at noon, enter the halls of Congress to find elected officials, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in particular, and deliver letters adorned with tea bag tags ...Continue Reading

Harford Democrats To Hold Pro Health Insurance Reform Vigil In Bel Air

The Young Democrats of Harford County invite you to a Pro Health Insurance Reform Vigil on Tuesday, September 8th, 2009 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Harford County Courthouse in Bel Air.

Russ Kovach, President of the YDHC, offered the following description of the event:

The Young Democrats of Harford County is organizing a pro-health care vigil on Tuesday evening, September 8th as congress returns to D.C. This vigil is not intended to emulate the tactics and antics of the ‘tea-party’ type protests; rather I hope to get a crowd of those that support the initiative to have a quiet demonstration that there is a pro-reform majority out there, and that we can get our point across without disrupting meetings and denigrating public officials.
