UPDATED: 18-Year-Old Charged In Shooting on Starr Street in Edgewood

(Edgewood, MD – January 14, 2010: 4:00pm) On Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at approximately 11pm, Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a 911 call in reference to a shooting that occurred in the 2000 block of Starr Street in Edgewood MD. The victim, Thomas Joseph Sweiger, 20, of Bel Air, MD was shot twice. He was transported by ambulance to Bayview Medical Center by Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company. At this time, his condition is stable. Within minutes of the initial call, deputies were on scene and able to quickly determine and locate the suspect, who is currently in custody.

Police Investigate Thanksgiving Homicide In Edgewood

(Edgewood, MD – November 27, 2009) –Harford County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a homicide that occurred in the 600 block of Yorkshire Drive, Edgewood MD. The victim has been identified as Brandon Jerome Sanders, 25, of Edgewood, MD.

At approximately 7:30am on November 27, 2009, deputies responded to a 911 call in the 600 block of Yorkshire Drive in Edgewood MD, in reference to a body found lying in an open space near the caller’s home. Deputies determined the unidentified male had been shot in the upper torso region of his body. He was verified as deceased at the time of discovery. While canvassing the area, deputies were able to reveal that several neighbors had heard shots fired sometime between 11:00pm and midnight on Thursday evening, yet no calls were placed to 911.

Knife-Wielding Man Fatally Shot By Harford Sheriff’s Deputy In Bel Air

Harford County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a domestic dispute that occurred in the 1000 block of Ellicott Drive Bel Air, Maryland on October 31, 2009 at approximately 1210 p.m. that resulted in the death of resident Jason Lawrence, 23.

A 911 call was received by the Emergency Operation Center that indicated a domestic dispute was occurring and residents were being threatened by a subject with a knife. The first responding deputy was met by a family member in front of the residence who stated Jason Lawrence was inside the residence armed with a knife.

Upon the deputy entering the residence he encountered Mr. Lawrence who threatened him with a knife. In fear for his safety as well as others in the residence the deputy drew his firearm and fired striking Mr. Lawrence several times in the torso area.

Warrant Issued In Perryman Homicide

(Harford County, MD – May 17, 2009) -Harford County Sheriff’s deputies have obtained a warrant for Donald Donnell Brown, Jr., 30, in connection with the murder of Yamar Auntrez Martin, 26, of Wing Leaf Court in Edgewood.

On May 5, 2009 at 2:08 a.m. deputies responded for shots fired in the area of Mayberry Drive, Aberdeen, MD. Shortly after their arrival deputies were notified that the State Police were out with a vehicle that had crashed at Route 40 and Revolution Street, Havre De Grace, MD. In the back seat of the vehicle was Yamar Auntrez Martin, 26, of Wing Leaf Court in Edgewood, who had sustained a gunshot wound. Martin was transported to Shock Trauma by the Havre De Grace Ambulance Corps and died shortly after his arrival.

Fallston Man Arrested After Early-Morning Shooting Spree Across Harford

(Harford County, MD – April 26, 2009) – Harford County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested Mark A. Snyder, 37, of the 800 block of Dellwood Drive, Fallston, MD for a shooting spree and burglary which occurred early this morning.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. deputies responded to the area of the 3800 block of Bay Road, Street, MD for shots fired. Investigations revealed that Mark Snyder went to a home in the 3800 block of Bay Road, Street, MD and fired several shots into the house before he forcibly entered the residence. The family was not home at the time of the incident.

Hearing the shots, a concerned neighbor also drove to the residence where he observed a black truck in the driveway and Snyder walking out of the home. The neighbor knew that Snyder did not live there and immediately left with Snyder following close by. ...Continue Reading

Churchville Gang Member Gets 50-Year Sentence For Edgewood Shooting

Larry Darnell Pollin, age 22, of Churchville, Maryland, was sentenced today to serve 50 years for a gang related shooting that occurred on December 30, 2007, in the Windsor Valley Apartments in Edgewood, Maryland.

Mr. Pollin was tried and found guilty on January 25, 2009, of two counts of attempted second degree murder, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, and reckless endangerment, for the shooting that took place in the early morning hours of December 30, 2007, in Edgewood. Two victims, Enoch Richardson and Kevin Goode, both of Baltimore, were shot while walking through the parking lot of the apartment complex. Witnesses saw two men run into a nearby townhouse. Mr. Pollin was later identified as one of those men. The Maryland State Police recovered an AK-47 assault rifle hidden inside the townhouse. False Alarm: Rumor Of Shooting Situation At Bel Air High School Is Unfounded

From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office at 12:34 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6:

It is has been brought to our attention that several citizens of Harford County are under the impression that there is an Active Shooter situation occurring at Bel Air High School. THERE IS NOT! Again, let me assure you there is not an active shooter situation occurring at any school in Harford County.

There was a drill being conducted by a local security company at Harford Community College. During the simulation, they were using walkie talkies as a part of the exercise. Someone erroneously picked up the transmission and reported it to our Emergency Operations Center, which of course immediately began the appropriate safety measures and protocols in a situation of this type.

Deputies Investigate Edgewood Shooting

(Edgewood, MD – December 31, 2008) – Harford County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the shooting of a 19 year old man which occurred Tuesday, December 30, 2008.

At approximately 8:05 pm deputies responded to the 600 block of Meadowood Drive Edgewood, MD in reference to a shooting. Harford County Sheriff’s deputies determined Lamere Shavase Walton, 19, of the 600 block of Meadowood Drive Edgewood, MD was walking along Meadowood Drive when an unknown black male began shooting at him, striking him several times in his upper body.

The shooter is described as a light skin black male, 5’06” to 5’08”, 150-180lbs, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Walton was treated at the scene by members of the Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department and transported by Maryland State Police Medivac to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

Christmas Eve Shooting Suspect Arrested In Edgewood

(Harford County, MD – December 27, 2008) – Harford County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested Benjamin Melvin Freeman, 23, of the 3000 block of Sounding Drive, Edgewood, MD in connection with the shooting of Richard Donald Wagner, 33, in the area of Flying Point Road and Willoughby Beach Road, Edgewood, MD.

With information obtained from the victim, detectives identified one of the suspects as “Dutch” who is also known as Benjamin Melvin Freeman. Deputies determined that Wagner had contacted Freeman on December 24 to purchase $50 worth of heroin. They both met, along with a third person, later that day in the area of West Spring Meadow Court with Wagner driving his black Chevy Cavalier.

They then drove to the area of Flying Point Road and Willoughby Beach Road where they stopped to relieve themselves in the woods. As they were walking back to the vehicle Freeman displayed a black handgun revolver ...Continue Reading

Christmas Eve Shooting And Carjacking In Edgewood Sends Man To Shock Trauma

(Harford County, MD – December 25, 2008) – Harford County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the shooting of a 33 year old man which occurred Wednesday, December 24, 2008.

At approximately 8:50 pm deputies responded to the area of Flying Point Road and Willoughby Beach Road, Edgewood, MD in reference to a shooting.

Harford County Sheriff’s deputies determined Richard Donald Wagner, 33, of the 3300 block of Abingdon Road, Abingdon, MD was driving along Willoughby Beach Road when he encountered two black males. After a short conversation, one of the black males produced a handgun and shot Wagner multiple times, striking him in the lower abdomen and arms. The two black males then stole the victim’s 1997 black Chevy Cavalier which was not displaying any registration.

Wagner was treated at the scene by members of the Abingdon Volunteer Fire Department and transported by Maryland State Police Medivac to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.
